Electric vehicle drivers have all been there. While on the hunt for a comfortable rental home to book for an upcoming vacation or weekend getaway, suddenly it dawns on us: "Wait, how am I going to charge my car during this trip?"
Fear not, thanks to Airbnb, you can now utilize a filter on a popular vacation rental mobile app to show you EV-friendly spaces and hosts who offer their guests car chargers.

New customization tools launching within a popular mobile app for Summer 2021
On May 24, Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky shared the details on over 100 upgrades coming to their mobile app by this summer. With this announcement comes the unlocking of several new and exciting features for their customers and hosts in regards to custom searches.
Under the "Facilities" tab in their mobile app, users now have the ability to filter out for free parking on-site, nearby gyms, and awesome backyard spaces. With this update, “EV charger” is now an option for renters, too.
It's a huge plus for EV-drivers who travel frequently
Us EV-drivers who constantly find ourselves scrambling to find a nearby charging location while traveling are going to love this update. This in-app filtering system should ease the anxiety we often face not knowing how or when we can access our next charge.
Airbnb travelers and EV-drivers have been taking to internet forums such as Reddit for years to figure out when this feature would be put in place. Hosts and Superhosts have also requested it, as it brings in potential customers who rely on an EV to get to their space.
How does this affect your summer travel plans?
EV-owners can now easily search for spaces which offer a service they consistently need while on the road, and hosts can now properly advertise this amenity to potential renters. Your summer travel planning just got a little easier, as you can now know whether or not you'll have access to charging in your potential vacation properties.
This game changing feature is finally here, and the EV-community is ready to take full advantage of it. While this may seem like a small win to some, EV-drivers are receiving access to the crucial information they need to plan out their summer vacations or business trips more efficiently.
If you are an EV-driver, find yourself to be a repeat rental home guest, or are a well-established Superhost, what are your thoughts regarding this major in-app update?
